After selecting the appropriate file, click on the Start button to proceed.

Using VirtualBox Machine is more secure if you want to use Ubuntu just as a desktop operating system rather than dual booting your system which might cause your system to corrupt.

VirtualBox Installed on your Mac, if not Please go through How to install VirtualBox on Mac by OSStuff.

Check which bit operating system youre running on your processor.

Ubuntu Download Button As

Click on the alternative downloads under the Download button as highlighted above.

Ubuntu Torrent Downloads As

Now, scroll down till you find Bit Torrent Downloads as shown above.

Under Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS select the Desktop version of according to your processor, as highlighted above.

This will download a file which you can open up and download through bit torrent application.

Step 1: Create A New Virtual Machine After opening up the VirtualBox Application you can see a VirtualBox Manager window.

Now, you can see a Create Virtual Machine dialog box will pop up as shown above.

Type in a descriptive name for your virtual machine and then dropdown to choose Type as Linux and Version as according to your Ubuntu version, in my case I have downloaded 64-bit Ubuntu so I selected the version accordingly.

Now, drag to select the memory size you want to assign it to your virtual machine to run Ubuntu.

I have left it unchanged to the recommended memory size as shown above.

You can drag till 4 GB if you have 8 GB RAM installed on your laptop.

In Hard disk dialog box select the Create a virtual hard disk now radio button as shown above and then click on Create button to proceed.

In Hard disk file type select the default VDI (Virtual Disk Image) option as shown above.

In Storage on physical hard disk, select the Dynamically allocated option as highlighted above.

Dynamically allocation will use only the required space of your laptops physical hard disk whereas the Fixed size will be static allocation by the user at the time of allocating and will not exceed the usage of the physical hard disk.

Now in File location and size you can select the drive folder, where you want your virtual hard disk file to be created in, I have left it as a default and below that you can allocate the size of Virtual hard disk, 8 GB is the least recommended, I have selected 20 GB, select your desired size and then click on the Create button to proceed.

Step 2: Add Ubuntu On Created Virtual Machine As you can see you Virtual Machine is now has been created as shown above.

Now select the Ubuntu VM and then click on the Start icon as shown above.

To upload the downloaded ISO file, in the pop up shown above, click on the folder icon as highlighted above, and select the Ubuntu file from the particular folder.
